Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Despite a failed attempt at a 5th consecutive Stanley Cup championship, the New York Islanders 4-games-to-2 win over Montreal in the 1984 Wales Conference finals earned each team member a miniature Prince of Wales Trophy like the offered example. Veteran left winger Clark Gillies, who contributed 12 playoff goals, has his name engraved along with that of the trophy on a metal plaque applied to one side of the 2-inch high wooden base, while engraving on a second plaque over the reverse reads "NHL Champions – New York Islanders 1983-84." Four silver-plated hockey sticks rise up from the base to support a cup with removable lid, giving the award a total height of 13". Some tarnishing and surface loss, mostly on the upper part of the bowl is present regarding condition, with the front plaque somewhat loose. A signed LOA from Clark Gillies will accompany.
