Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

The Canadiens and Maple Leafs would meet in the Stanley Cup finals the same season as cards like these were discovered in Parkhurst packs by hockey and gum-loving consumers, with the images of Montreal and Toronto stars and supporting cast members contributing to a classic Parkie set. Cards for the most part display as VG and VG+ examples, with however many of the key cards exhibiting further grade-lowering issues. The Maurice Richard entry would be EX if not for the glue residue and paper loss on the reverse, while the Jacques Plante has creases and similar back damage. Similar is 49-Harvey, with just a small subtle stain on the back of 46-Bower (o/w VG+). Best among the stars are 28-Geoffrion and 34-Beliveau at VG+, with creases affecting 33-Mahovlich and 42-Horton (both G). We count 11 cards with wax/gum stains on the reverse, including 1-Pulford comes close, 2-H. Richard (VG), 9-Blake, 11, 15, 17, 18, 19, 44, 45 and 50-Cullen. A few cards with toning on the fronts are also to mention. Still decent overall and conjuring up thoughts of the Original Six era, these will be a cheaper alternative to a high grade set.
