Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Rarely seen or offered in quantity, we have an especially scarce collection of Soviet/Russian gift pennants and banners, with these the examples exchanged between players usually during the opening games of international tournaments. With 42 in total including some duplication, the majority feature text in Cyrillic, with the sizes ranging from roughly 4” x 7”, to larger pennants that are 19” in length. Highlighted by five 1991 Canada Cup examples – three with the rare pins still attached – there are also a pair of banners that feature signatures on the reverse, one dated 1987, the other with Olympic rings within the design. It should also be noted that this collection originates from a long-time Hockey Canada employee that acted as team liaison to visiting Russian squads.
