Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Formed in 1932 by chocolate mogul Milton Hershey due to the popularity of amateur hockey games being played in and around the namesake community, the Hershey Bears have competed in the AHL since 1938, with the distinction as one of the longest-continually run hockey teams in the world. We have a fabulous group of Bears memorabilia, including a pair of vintage programs, a 1937-38 team photo, a pennant and a pair of Bears tiles. The team photo is 8” x 10” and black and white, with the club posed on-ice. All members are listed along the base, with moderate to heavy wear including a large crease, surface residue and corner wear. The first program is 9 ½” x 12” and from 1936-37, made for a contest against the NY Rovers on March 6th 1937, with wonderful images of Bears players throughout. Expected handling wear is present, with some minor rusting of the staples, with the spine torn slightly along the bottom. The second program is 8 ½” x 11” and hails from a March 19th 1938 contest, again vs the Rovers, with expected handling along with the spine torn slightly along the bottom. The one-piece pennant is 25” in length and probably originates from the 1970s/80s, with wonderful graphics, with wear along both the left border and along the reverse. Lastly, the matching 4 ¼” x 4 ¼” tiles both feature gold over brown graphics, with cork reverses. Each remains in NOS condition, with accompanying boxes with additional graphics.
