Fantastic 1971 Montreal Expos flannel jersey and pants were worn by lefthanded reliever Dan McGinn, who hit the first home run in Expos history. McGinn’s No. 25 Expos game-worn jersey with ventilation holes on the underarms is from his third and final season in Montreal. Rawlings size 42 tagging is in the collar and washing instructions tagging sits on the left front tail with a “Set 1 #8P 1971” flag tag on the right side. The embroidered “71 25” patch is sewn in the back of McGinn’s game-worn pants, which were likely recycled, have Rawlings size 34 tagging, as well as a washing instruction tag and “Set 1 #8P 1971” flag tag.
There is a reddish-brown stain on the left side of the upper back on the rear sleeve seam on the back of the shoulder, a small reddish-brown spot stain on the right sleeve, and various marks and stains on the back below the sewn-on Number 25 in blue twill.
The pants, which have ventilation holes in the front and rear of the crotch and a few light reddish-brown stains around the waistband, were most likely recycled for an Expos minor league team. The numbers “25” and “5” handwritten in marker inside the waistband have been crossed out, and the name “Kuehl” handwritten in black marker is also crossed out. Karl Kuehl managed Double-A Quebec City in 1972 and 1973 and Triple-A Memphis in 1974 and 1975 before replacing original Expos manager Gene Mauch in Montreal in 1976.
