Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Topps representatives from the mid-1950s here are low on star power, but also creases, with two decent little stacks led chronologically by exactly five dozen '54s, with 38 different and thus 22 duplicates, all numbered below 50. Corner and edge wear and, occasionally, surface wear, make for a VG-EX average, with that grade dominating and VG, VG+ and EX cards also in the mix. A VG card of 45-Richie Ashburn, along with 7-Kluszewski (VG), 25-Kuenn RC (VG-EX) and two of 3-Irvin (VG+, VG) are most notable and joined by 4-Sauer, 5-Lopat, 14-Roe, 15-Rosen, 16-Janowicz, 23-Easter, 38-Stanky, 40-Parnell and doubles of 2-Zernial, 6-Runnels, 9-Haddix, 12-Crandall, 18-Dropo, 21-Shantz, 29-Hegan and 43-Groat. The '55s total (66) and are similar condition-wise, with fewer minor stars and just one dupe. We count a dozen EX examples, including a Sandy Amoros rookie card (#75), with 22-Skowren (VG) the only other real notable. Five low grade cards are present and numbers do not go above 106.
