Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Forever remembered as the ultimate clash between eastern and western hockey powerhouses, the 1972 Summit Series featured the best players both Canada and the Soviet Union could muster. We have a desirable pair of seldom-seen Summit Series-related Moscow pennants from the famous tournament, along with a vintage hockey medal. At roughly 4” x 6 ½” and completely identical, each thin mini pennant lists the dates along with the participants, with flags for each nation placed along the top. The vintage medal is 1 ½” in diameter, with an embossed generic player on the obverse, along with a floral pattern with scroll work and a crest over the reverse. The crest feature’s Latin which translates to “From Sea to Sea”. The pennants each have the original hanging string intact, with just light overall wear, while the medal exhibits moderate handling wear with a few scratches and blemishes.
