Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Great pair of NHL and WHA goalie Les Binkley’s game-used items features his Cleveland Barons 1963-64 AHL Calder Cup champion multi-signed stick and his signed early-1970s customized trapper glove. The autographs of Binkley, Ron Atwell, Bill Needham, Dick Mattiussi and Jean-Guy Morissette are among the light ballpoint signatures that can be made out on the front and back of the upper shaft of his team-signed Sherbrooke stick, which has an “April 25, 1964 Calder Cup Champions” annotation and the original tape jobs on the knob and blade. Binkley signed in bold black marker on his unique trapper, which is a Rawlings first baseman’s mitt customized with the cuff of a Cooper GM12 glove.
A modern Binkley signature with “#1” and "1963-64 Cleveland Barons Calder Cup Champs" annotation, all in bold black marker, sits on the paddle of the team-signed stick between his original tape jobs.
Binkley’s customized glove is an exact style he is seen wearing with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the early-1970s.
