Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Now a veteran of a dozen NHL seasons and with 3 Stanley Cups, along with the Hart, Conn Smythe and Art Ross Trophies all won twice, it’s safe to say there isn’t much left for Sidney Crosby to accomplish. We have a signed and photo-matched stick used by the phenom during a Dec 23rd match vs New Jersey in 2016, where he scored a goal on the power play. A CCM Ribcore Reckoner, “Crosby 87” factory graphics appear over the upper shaft, with the date of the game, “12-23-16” handwritten in silver paint pen on the underside. The original ribbed-style tape job remains over the handle/knob, with the blade tape removed to facilitate Sidney’s gorgeous and flowing silver signature across the front side. Donated by Crosby to raise money for a local kids hockey team in NJ and received directly from a Penguins staffer, a pair of included numeric images from the Dec 23rd contest have been matched. Getty Image #630478768 has been matched to the red transfer mark on the lower portion of the handle tape, and to the “ribbed” handle grip (the long thin wrap that is under the tape) which is also darker in color. The second included image has been matched to the two dots on the underside of the handle tape. The dots are closer to one side and are somewhat uneven, with the placement matching the photo.
