HOF center Mats Sundin and two-time Stanley Cup champion Adam Foote enjoyed stellar NHL careers after the Quebec Nordiques made them their first two picks of the 1989 draft. This lot consists of Sundin and Foote signed game-used sticks.
Sundin, who was chosen No. 1 by Quebec, had four stellar seasons with the Nordiques, including a remarkable 1992-93 season when he had what would prove to be career highs with 47 goals, 67 assists and 114 points. The spectacular Swede scored most of his 564 goals and 1,349 points during his 13 seasons in Toronto during an 18-year NHL career that included a swan song season with Vancouver in 2008-09.
Sundin signed in bold black marker low on the shaft of his Nike game-used wood stick, which has his original tape jobs on the knob and blade, which is cracked off near the heel. “Mats Sundin” is factory printed on the shaft, which is blackened along its length.
Foote, who won the Stanley Cup with Colorado in 1996 and 2001, signed in silver paint pen across the bare blade of his Easton two-piece stick, with a T-Flex Graphite shaft and an Easton blade insert. Foote’s number “52” is handwritten in black marker on the front of the upper shaft, which retains the reliable defenseman’s original tape job on the knob.
