Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Locating signatures from pre-Original Six era players is no easy task, with signed photos from prominent individuals nearly impossible. We have defied the odds, with a pair of wonderful signed 8” x 10” photos featuring Larry Aurie and netminder Lorne Chabot. A back-to-back Stanley Cup champion with Detroit in 1936 and 1937, the Aurie photo picture’s the diminutive forward in full uniform, with Aurie adding a dark and bold signature with a dedication. The Chabot photo pictures the two-time Stanley Cup champion in his Black Hawks gear, with a signature above with dedication that states “To a real good hockey fan”, with a second signature below with “1935”. The Vezina Trophy winner in 1935, Chabot passed in 1946, while Aurie sadly left us in 1952.
The Aurie photo exhibits toning with some creasing, with the photographer’s particulars on the reverse. The Chabot photo also exhibits toning with a few surface wrinkles, with each signature somewhat faded.
