Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018

Always intriguing are little batches of pre-war cards, with the rookie cards of three Toronto Maple Leafs, along with an example of legendary Leaf King Clancy leading the star power here. Unfortunately, they do not lead the condition parade, with the Clancy (multi-creased with paper loss on the reverse) and RC of George Hainsworth (writing and staining on the front) both Poor, and joined by Fair rookie cards of Joe Primeau (multiple creases) and Ace Bailey (displays well but has light back damage). Best of the 1933-34 O-Pee-Chees is #16-Ott Heller RC at VG, followed by 56-Jimmy Ward (G+) and 2-Joe Lamb RC (G). Fair are 21-Larochelle RC, 46-Leduc RC and 62-Trottier, while two Ps are 4-Doraty RC and 48-Mondou RC. The four other cards are also technically low grade due to evidence of once having been glued, with however '37-38 OPC cards of Canadiens 155-Haynes and 167-Runge free of creases. A top-to-bottom crease and light back damage affects a '37-38 World Wide Gum card of 66-Carl Voss (RC), with that of Hall-of-Famer 4-Marty Barry crease-free but with staining and paper loss on the reverse.
