A veteran of over 1000 NHL contests, defenceman Randy Carlyle captained both the Winnipeg Jets and Pittsburgh Penguins - the Sudbury native was also the recipient of the James Norris Trophy as the league’s premiere blueliner in 1981. We have a signed Jets jerseys worn by Carlyle in 1984-85, his second of ten seasons spent in the Manitoba capital. A partially attached CCM label sits along the collar with a born-on date tag that appears to state “84 01”, with a CCM* crest over the reverse bottom hem. Featuring the familiar Jets team crest with both “Jets” and “Winnipeg” completely embroidered, the mesh-style V-neck has been accented with dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with “Carlyle” in white, fully embroidered onto the nameplate. A tie-style fight strap has also been utilized.
Measuring across the reverse from armpit to armpit, the jersey measures 25”, making it roughly a size 50. Game-wear consists of numerous dark marks over the lower white front band and sleeves, with material-backed repairs over each elbow section. There is also some orange paint transfer over the lower left sleeve as well as some light staining over the left shoulder. Carlyle has signed within the top section of the reverse number in blue marker including his number, and the signature displays well.
