Extremely popular throughout the 1960’s right up until the present day, bobble heads have been made representing a number of themes, with examples portraying sport the most desirable. This lot contains an instant collection of 4 Original Six “High Skates” dolls constituting two thirds of a complete set, with examples present for Boston, Chicago, New York and Toronto. Standing at approx. 6 ½” in height and distributed in Canada, each sports “Japan” stamps along the underside of the base, with the Chicago example utilizing a light blue base (mentioned in Tim Hunter’s authoritative work). Much more difficult to locate than their regular “Square Base” counterparts, this collection would look amazing displayed.
The Black Hawks doll features a clean decal with no base chipping, with some minor dirt staining in spots. A few hairline cracks are visible that ascend from the base of the head, with a large crack beneath the left ear. The Rangers doll has light wear to the decal and base with some minor chipping, with small blemishes on the shoulders and top of the head. There is also a crack that runs from the right eye up through the hairline. Next, the Bruins bobble head has very minor chipping along the base, with overall minor wear, with the head sitting somewhat high on the spring. Lastly, the Maple Leafs doll has a fairly clean base and decal with minor dirt wear, with the head free of any cracks or damage.
