Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Well remembered for the dissolution of the Soviet Union the day the tournament began, the 1992 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship witnessed the Commonwealth of Independent States (also known as the Russian Commonwealth) take home the gold, with the American squad winning bronze. We have a Team USA alternate captain’s jersey that was worn at the tournament by Brent Bilodeau. A Tackla label with “XXL” sizing (the first X has been handwritten) sits affixed to the collar, with all identifiers including the team crest, numbers and striping bands sublimated. The alternate’s “A” and “Bilodeau” have both been affixed to the jersey, with the material first sublimated as well. Bilodeau would captain the US squad at the following tournament, in 1993.
Marks are visible over the front and sleeves, with a heavy concentration over the left elbow. Faint burns are also present over each sleeve, with some paint transfer over the lower left sleeve. We should also note some light discolouration/staining around the collar.
