Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

Hitting .300 or better in more than half of his 24 seasons as a player, Pete Rose retired with a .303 lifetime average, with his number finally retired by the Reds in 2016. Hailing directly from the collection of an ex-Montreal Expos clubhouse employee who also worked earlier as a bat boy for the Expos, we have a signed Reds cap personally gifted to our then-bat boy consignor by Rose in 1978, along with a Houston Astros dugout sweater he was given in the late-1970s by the Astros equipment manager. The cap is in solid red with a New Era label and 7 1/4 sizing, with an embroidered “C” over the front along with the original cardboard KM Pro Cap insert. Rose has signed the brim in black marker adding “Best Wishes”, with no issues for the signature, with the cap itself in gorgeous condition. The Astros sweater has a Medalist Sand-Knit label along the collar with “Houston Astros”, with a second label with “42” sizing over the inside seam just above the bottom buttons. Featuring “Astros” in white tackle twill across the chest, the “rainbow” style sweater remains in beautiful condition, with just very light wear. A letter of provenance will accompany for the cap.
