Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
The most recognizable jersey in hockey, we have an attractive Montreal Canadiens alternate captain’s example from the mid-1970s, with this jersey most likely manufactured originally as a salesman’s sample. A Wilson label with “46” sizing sits affixed to the collar, with no other tagging present. Featuring the familiar “CH” team crest in layered tackle twill, the tie-neck garment has been accented with white sleeve and verso numbers with blue trim in matching material. Sporting the number 2 worn famously by Jacques Laperriere from 1964 through 1974, the vintage jersey matches in style examples the Habs wore in 1974. We should also note the use of a garter-style fight strap, with evidence of a number change at some point. Just a few random marks and burns are visible, with small holes over the right sleeve and shoulder.
