Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Finishing second behind Ottawa during the 1946-47 QSHL regular season, the Montreal Royals – led by future NHLers Doug Harvey and Gerry McNeil, would secure the Allan Cup after beating Calgary in a hard-fought seven games. We have a wonderful collection of rarely-seen signed Montreal Royals postcards from their championship season numbering 15, with examples from Harvey and McNeil encapsulated as “Authentic” by PSA/DNA. Featuring undivided postcard backs, each example exhibits just light wear with dark signatures, with the postcard for Bobby Pepin heavily stained across the front. Bid accordingly, as it’s unlikely for another collection of this caliber to surface.
Other players included in these scarce signed relics include Cliff Malone, Gerry Plamondon, Tod Campeau, Doug Casavant, Floyd Curry, Eric Flett, Jim Gailbraith, Jimmy Haggerty, Jacques Locas, Pete Morin, Howard Riopelle and Ernie Laforce. The majority of the postcards remain in visually pleasing condition, with lower technical grades for expected corner and surface wear, with a few examples exhibiting spotting to the reverse.
