Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
When Al MacInnis teed up the puck at the blue line, the sight that followed was the Hall of Fame defenseman unleashing one of the most dreaded point shots in hockey history. MacInnis and his fearsome slapshot helped propel the 1988-89 Calgary Flames to a Stanley Cup win over the Montreal Canadiens, and by the mid-1990s, Al’s booming blasts were benefitting the St. Louis Blues. Featured here are two of MacInnis’ signed mid-1990s Blues Sher-Wood game-used sticks. Also included are MacInnis’ St. Louis Blues equipment bag plus two more mid-to-late-1990s Blues equipment bags, a No. 18 bag attributed to enforcer Tony Twist, and a No. 12 back which may have been used by a number of Blues players, including HOFer Dale Hawerchuk. MacInnis’ original tape jobs remain on the knob and blade of both of his game-used sticks, one a P.M.P. 7000, and the other a PMPX 9950 Iron Carbon. Each stick has “MacInnis 2” factory printed high on the front of the shaft and “Handcrafted Exclusively for Al MacInnis 2” low on the back of the shaft. Al placed big bold black marker autographs across his tape jobs on the front of the blade of both sticks. Both sticks exhibit nice game wear that includes wear through the bottom edge of the tape job on the blade and green paint transfer high on the shaft of the P.M.P. 7000, and wear along the bottom edge of the blade tape job on the PMPX 9950. The three mid-to-late-1990s St. Louis Blues Tackla equipment bags have each player’s number heat-screened in yellow vinyl on each end, with No. 2 on MacInnis’ bag, No. 18 on the bag attributed to Twist, and No. 12 on the one that may have been used by Vitali Karamnov, Hawerchuk, Rob Pearson or Chris Kenady.
