Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

A trio of wrappers which accompany the 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee set here are a reminder that Wayne Gretzky's famous rookie card was pulled from 20-cent packs back in the day. The Gretz RC here is crease-free but with slight dings at three corners, to go along with less-than-perfect centering and a slight diamond cut. We would say EX at best, with the remainder of the ensemble displaying well and generally better. Intermittent "white" corner touches are spotted, as well as other cards, similar to the Gretzky, with off side-to-side centering and with subtle diamond cuts, including Gordie Howe. Bobby Hull is from the same production run, with one light corner ding. For the most part, EX-MT to NM-MT is the range, with the second-year Mike Bossy well-centered and NM. The Oilers logo/checklist is off-centered but otherwise very close to MINT. Team checklists are unmarked, as are the checklists, with however the latter all with wear at a corner or two and #237 actually miscut.
