Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
The desirable rookie card of the man who set phenomenal single-season scoring records which seemed unbreakable at the time and which were only bettered when Wayne Gretzky came along is offered here, with Phil Esposito's 1965-66 Topps card #116 slabbed by Beckett and graded Near Mint 7. Oh, how Phil's career took off following his trade from Chicago to Boston where he teamed with Bobby Orr and other Bruins to form hockey's most prolific offence. Pleasing centering and light corner wear are to mention with the key to Topps' '65-66 issue. The details on the reverse of the BVG label read: Centering 8, Corners 6.5, Edges 8, Surface 7.5. Big Phil scored a whopping 713 regular season goals in his Hall of Fame career and five times won the Art Ross Trophy as NHL scoring champ.
