Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
While originating as both a utilitarian gentleman’s accoutrement as well as a status piece worn to symbolize both class and style, we have an exceptional Elgin pocket watch that originates from the 1910s, and it’s been augmented with a wonderfully engraved vintage hockey scene. Manufactured in the US as a size 16 Model 6 watch with a 7-jewel 290 grade movement, the solid nickel timepiece with mechanical escapement also features a sunken porcelain dial with blued spade pointer hands. The engraved scene, which was possibly executed shortly later, features 2 players in full movement, with detailed sticks, skates and equipment. An absolute gem to display, the watch is currently running and is in working order.
With just light wear to the glass over the dial along with some minor scratching to the hallmarked case, the watch remains in wonderful overall condition. A matching 13” NOS chain is also included.
