Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

This Edmonton Oilers 2006 Stanley Cup Final game-issued jersey was done up for defenseman Dick Tarnstrom to wear in Games 1 and 2 against Carolina. Tarnstrom did not play the first two games on the road but was in the Oilers’ lineup for the rest of Edmonton’s seven-game loss to the Hurricanes. The 2006 Stanley Cup Final patch is sewn on the right breast of the jersey, which has size 58 flag tag in the back of the neck. The “2005-2006 Season” square patch is sewn inside the rear tail between the “Elite Sportswear 2005-2006 Edmonton Oilers Stanley Cup Finals” team patch and the MeiGray NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2004-2005 Season patch with registry No. C03510 that appears on the accompanying LOA.
According to the MeiGray population report the jersey is a “White Stanley Cup Finals GI”. The LOA states that this jersey “was prepared for use by Dick Tarnstrom during the 2006 Stanley Cup Final” and “prepared to be worn throughout Game 1 on June 5, 2006 and Game 2 on June 7, 2006 at RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.” The back of the jersey has some light gray areas that are possibly from how it was stored and likely cleanable.
