Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
A rare opportunity, Classic Auctions is pleased to announce yet another partnership with the historic Montreal Canadiens franchise, one that will bring to auction a large and impressive bounty of jerseys fresh from the vast and seldom offered holdings of the storied hockey club. Examples are present from 2002-03 to 2014-15, with both important game-issued and game-worn jerseys offered, with a direct line from the actual player and the Canadiens franchise – to you, our loyal bidders. Each desirable jersey has inventory numbers from the Canadiens, with each to be accompanied by a letter of authenticity on Canadiens letterhead, with this section of impressive jerseys offered online with the familiar Classic Auction bidding rules applying.
All-Star goalie Carey Price’s photo-matched 2008-09 Montreal Canadiens game-worn jersey displays patches on both shoulders. The “100 Seasons” the Canadiens wore throughout 2008-09 to kick off their 2009 centennial celebrations is sewn on the right shoulder and the “LNH Match des Etoiles Montreal 2009” All-Star Game patch is sewn on the left shoulder. Price, who was chosen fifth overall by the Canadiens in the 2005 NHL Draft, went 23-16-10 with one shutout, a 2.83 GAA and .905 save percentage in his sophomore season in Montreal. He started in his first NHL All-Star Game and allowed two goals in the first period Eastern Conference All-Stars’ wild 12-11 shootout win over the West All-Stars at Bell Centre on January 25, 2009. Price’s 2008-09 Canadiens game-worn red home jersey is matched to two Getty Images photos taken on November 29, 2008, Nos. 83858328 and 83858544, which show the black mark at the bottom of the “H” on the CH crest sewn on the front. Goalie Style and size 58 flag tags sit in the back of the neck, which has “1” handwritten in black marker within the white thread outline of the embroidered RBK logo sewn on the back below the collar. More game wear shows in a pair of black marks on the fabric panel between the upper left front and the left sleeve, a couple of light black marks above the CH crest and one below it, , very faint marks on the white stripe on the front tail, black marks on the lower white stripe on the front of the left sleeve, faint marks to the right of the No. 31 on the right sleeve, a light black mark on the lower white stripe on the back of the right sleeve, which has a small board burn in the blue band, and an unrepaired burn hole on the lower right sleeve near the cuff. Canadiens Game-Worn Jersey team patch with No. A02986 is sewn inside the rear tail. Canadiens hologram sticker affixed to the bottom of the “1” on the back displays registry No. GU11544, which corresponds with the team LOA that accompanies this photo-matched Carey Price gamer from his sophomore season.
