Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Early and wonderful classic melton hockey jacket worn by an 18-year-old Bob Johnson as a member of the Grand Forks Amerks, champions of the Minnesota Amateur Hockey Association or MAHA for the 1949-50 hockey season. Best is the familiar crossed flags in Chenille material sewn onto the upper right arm and the chain-stitched team crest with "Minn-AHA Champs 50" at the chest. The coat features button snaps at the front and striped stretch knit cuffs and collar. In very good condition with some fraying at the cuffs and some light areas of staining. Still, a historical and very early piece of Bob's hockey history. Also included in the lot is a well-used and vintage leather wallet, hand-engraved with a sticks and puck design and reading "49-50 Amerks" and "Bob Johnson" . Bob's beautiful billfold wallet comes complete with the original presentation box by Pilgrim. Obtained in an estate sale of personal items that had been saved by Bob Johnson and will come with a letter of provenance.
