Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Marvelous pair of mitts worn on ice by Team USA coach Bob Johnson during the Seventies. Bob led the National Team throughout four World Championships, three Canada Cup tournaments and the 1976 Winter Olympic Games. This matched set of red, white and blue leather and vinyl gauntlets shows visible wear in the palms with no worn-through areas. The CCM HG2 Pro-Guard Thumb was a popular glove during the mid to late Seventies and this well-preserved pair retains the original laces in the four-eyelet cuffs. Each is identified on the white leather side roll with "Coach Johnson" in blue ballpoint ink.
A wonderful and wearable memory of, arguably, the best coach to ever come out of the United States. Obtained in an estate sale of personal items that had been saved by Bob Johnson and will come with a letter of provenance.
