Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
More inviting pre-war scarcities are offered up here, with a card like these offered to fans who attended Providence Reds games during the 1936-37 season, one that saw the famous "Kraut Line" skate for the Rhode Island team, a member of the International American Hockey League which became known as the AHL a few years later. Very few of the (blank-backed) cards survived in nice shape, with the PSA Population Report informing that the grading company has examined and slabbed just 33 cards since its inception. Seven of those picture Hall of Famer Bobby Bauer, with the one here graded VG-EX 4, the same as Gus Rivers and an unidentified player, the latter looking to us to be playing coach Albert Leduc. The others are higher at EX 5 and include a second-to-none-at-PSA card of HOFer Woody Dumart, a Pop 2. Also at EX 5 are cards of goalie Paddy Byrne and defencemen Art Lesieur and Bert McInenly, with Milt Schmidt, Jerry Shannon and Jackie Keating examples not present. One of just two sets on the PSA Set Registry, this group has a set rating of 3.30, while the GPA with Top Pop Bonuses stands at 4.71. Important encapsulated treasures await their new appreciative home!
