Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Remembered for his lightning speed and ambidextrous stick handling, Yvan Cournoyer would win an impressive six Stanley Cups during his tenure with Montreal, the only team the Drummondville native skated for during his HOF career. We have a stick issued to Cournoyer, and it’s been team-signed by the 1977-78 Montreal Canadiens. A Canadien Professional Custom Made model, “Yvan Cournoyer” appears on the topside of the shaft, along with “12”. Featuring on oddly shaped heel section and a custom-shaved handle, “Montreal Canadiens” has been handwritten at the top of the shaft, with 22 all signing the same side including HOFers Dryden, Cournoyer, Shutt, Robinson, Gainey, Lapointe, Lemaire and Serge Savard along with others. Others who have signed this game-issued Yvan Cournoyer stick include Mondou, Jarvis, Nyrop, Bouchard, Lupien, Pete Mahovlich and others. The signatures display well with some exhibiting fading, with the stick itself varnished, and it remains in wonderful condition.
