Drafted in 1989 and a member of the NHL’s All-Rookie Team in 1993, Vladimir Malakhov won gold with his native Russia at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville. This Islanders jersey was worn by the solid defenceman in 1993-94. CCM and size 52 tagging are affixed to the collar, with additional CCM and NHL patches on the back bottom hem. Styled with the familiar Islanders team crest fully administered in tackle twill, the blue V-neck has been accented in attractive tackle twill adornments including the sleeve and verso numbers, with the rubberized team patch on the inside hem. Shortened sleeves have also been utilized, with a few dark marks present along with board burns over the right sleeve. There is also an unrepaired hole in the middle section of the reverse “9”. An LOA will accompany. Addendum; jersey is a size 58, not a size 52. This jersey was prepared for, and worn by, Malakhov from an older set when he switched to the #92 in 1995 after the Islanders retired Bob Nystrom’s #23.
