Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
The club’s second straight championship, the Toronto Maple Leafs would handily defeat Montreal in the 1963 semi-finals, for a Cup match-up with Detroit that would only go five games with the Leafs to much to handle for Gordie and the boys from Motown. The first of its kind we’ve had the pleasure of handling, we have a wonderful Toronto Maple Leafs NHL champions and Stanley Cup winners serving tray that was presented to Ed Litzenberger and was obtained from his family. At 17” x 26” and silver-plated vis-à-vis the reverse hallmark, exquisite scroll work is featured, with the important award heavily chased with intricate detail. Engraved text at the center lists the particulars including “Stanley Cup Winners 1962-63 Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club Ed Litzenberger”, with hallmarks on the reverse. With half a century of expected surface wear including some tarnishing along with scratches and a few assorted marks, the tray displays beautifully, and would look amazing as a focal piece in any advanced Leafs or Stanley Cup collection. An LOA from Classic will accompany.
