Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Ideal for those that collect the men in the nets, we have a great lot of goaltender equipment with masks, blockers and gloves, highlighted by a seldom seen Louch mask. First, two blockers are included, with a WinnWell left-handed model, along with a right-handed 1950s “paw” style Puckmaster example from Stall & Dean. The WinnWell blocker exhibits wear to the face but remains in very good condition with solid stampings, while the Puckmaster example shows very little use and is as close to NOS as an item can get, with a clean surface and deep branding. Next, we have 3 trappers, with CCM (left hand) and Cooper (right hand) models from the 1960s/1970s that remain in very good condition with nice use exhibited, along with an earlier example that’s most likely a youth model that shows nice use, with no visible maker. The Louch mask features a label along the bottom front, with the original red leather strapping and chin pad intact. Exhibiting nice use, the mask remains solid with scratches and wear to the surface. Next, we have 7 assorted masks with a D&R “cage”, meant to be worn with a helmet, along with a second “eye glass” style mask with no maker, with this followed by 5 street hockey style examples, with 3 made by Cooper including one painted in the style of Jim Rutherford’s Wings mask, along with one with Maple Leafs graphics. As an added bonus, we also have an 8” x 10” photo of Johnny Bower wearing a Louch mask, and it’s been signed by the HOFer.
