Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Considered by many to be one of the most important arenas in all of sport, Madison Square Garden III was the home of the New York Rangers from 1926 until the building’s closing in 1968. We have a gorgeous full-size replica seat from the iconic building, and it’s accompanied by an attractive antique photograph of Lord Stanley of Preston. At just under 35” in height, the solid wood chair with metal fittings features a leather-covered seat center, with wooden slats for the seat back. A small gold-coloured name plaque has been affixed near the top of the seat back (partially loose), with the chair in excellent condition overall, with just light wear present. Also accompanying the seat, we have a small framed 9 ½” x 21” display that contains three photos of original MSG III seats, with light damage to the frame. The Lord Stanley picture is roughly 8” x 12” (exposed), and matted and framed to full dimensions of 14 ½” x 17 ½”. A facsimile signature appears along the bottom right, with a large crease that breaks the surface and runs from the left hand bottom to midway up.
