Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
An eclectic gathering of 6 unique hockey photos are presented, with an early image of the Detroit Olympia, along with a pair of images that feature players off the ice, with a large Christmas scene featuring legendary Habs Morenz, Joliat, Hainsworth and others, along with an image of the Quebec Aces including Beliveau as they prepare to board a flight. Next, we have a second Aces photo, followed by an image of the Bedford Arena opening in 1951 with Elmer Lach along with a photo of the Calgary Stampeders. First, the Olympia photo is a media example at 8” x 10” with notations along with date stampings of 1925, 1927 and 1952, with margins drawn. Heavy wear is present, with creasing, toning and surface and edge wear. The Habs Christmas photo is framed to full dimensions of 10 ½” x 12 ½”, and it features a number of male and female individuals celebrating, including Habs Morenz, Joliat, Hainsworth, Leduc, Gagnon and others. With just light wear visible along the top section, the photo and frame remain in pleasing condition. The Bedford Arena opening photo is 8 ¾” x 10 ¾” framed, with the date of Jan 16th 1951 in the bottom right. Lach is pictured in his Canadiens uniform, taking a ceremonial faceoff. Next, the Aces photo with Beliveau is roughly 11” x 14” and it pictures the squad on the runway, with heavy wear including creasing, toning and loss to a few corners and at the bottom center. A stamp from Roger Bedard Studio is on the reverse, with the photo itself also slightly warped. The second Aces photo is approx. 8” x 10” and on hard stock and it features the club at center ice. The reverse has items attached, probably from former scrapbook use, with heavy creasing and toning present. Lastly, the Calgary Stampeders photo features the team posed in their building, with wonderful period team pictures noticeable in the background. Framed to full dimensions of 10 ½” x 12 ½”, the image appears to be in very good condition with light wear.
