Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Seeing action in the IHL from only 1973 to 1977, we have an exceedingly scarce Columbus Owls game-worn alternate captain’s jersey. Originating as the Columbus Golden Seals in 1971, the team later relocated to Dayton after 1977. Cambridge Athletic Wear labeling sits affixed to the collar, along with a second laundering tag. Styled with a tri-colour team crest, the red V-neck has been accented with tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with matching team patches over each shoulder. A few fabric pulls are visible along the front, with some light spot staining over the lower front band. The alternate’s “A” has been removed, with the outline still visible, with each sleeve trimmed just below the striping bands. Despite the obvious flaws, this rare-style jersey displays exceptionally well.
