Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
His last appearance for Canada in international play, Marcel Dionne had previously donned the maple leaf for three additional World Championships, along with a pair of Canada Cup appearances and participation in the Summit Series. This Team Canada captain’s jersey was worn by Dionne in the 1986 World Championship, and it’s been photo-matched and will include his signed LOA. The collar retains its Adidas tagging, with an additional screened-on Adidas symbol over the right breast. With a beautiful Canadian team crest, custom-shortened sleeves and matching Agfa advertising patches on both shoulders, the patriotic garment also features felt-style heat pressed numbers.
Game-wear includes some dark marks on the left sleeve along with a large stick mark on the lower front, with a few small stains also present, most notably on the cuffs of both sleeves. As mentioned, this garment has been photo-matched. A number of different photos are matched to the "E" of Dionne on the nameplate, which is lower than the other letters. It is also matched to the "I" in Dionne, which is placed higher. We should also note that the team photo mentioned in the accompanying LOA is not included.
