The Rangers' contingent of Bee Hive Group 2 photos is highlighted by a trio of goaltenders, by Hall-of-Famers who wowed fans at the old Madison Square Garden and by, of course, those who had relatively short stays with the Blueshirts, making their pictures coveted and valuable. Bee Hives of goalies Johnny Bower, Jacques Plante and Marcel Paille, similarly scarcer/valuable examples of Max Bentley, Howie Glover, Gordon LaBossiere and two different picturing a young Jean Ratelle lead the way. The “John” Ratelle variation includes glue stains on the photo itself, as well as on the back of the mat which exhibits additional paper from once having been affixed. A Jack Evans (with name diagonal) picture is one of approximately a dozen spotted that was re-glued on a suspect (replacement) backing, while Buddy O’Connor on a red mat also does not jive. Overall though, the Rangers collection is in nice collectible condition, with condition ranging mostly from VG-EX to NM, similar to other team lots. Memorable Rangers not already mentioned and contributing to the appeal are Bathgate, Fontinato, Gadsby, Gilbert, Goyette, Hadfield, Harvey, Howell, Laprade, Leswick, McCartan, Rayner, Shack, Shero and Worsley. Plenty of fine players skated in New York, New York! Note that the only Group 2 Rangers picture not present here is the rare Larry Cahan (with script overlapping right skate) variation, offered individually.
