All-Star center Garry Unger wore this Oilers gamer during the second half of the 1980-81 season and into the Stanley Cup playoffs. Sandow and laundry instruction flag tags remain in the back of the neck of this gamer, a style which Unger and the Oilers wore during their three-game playoff sweep of the Montreal Canadiens and a six-game loss to the reigning Cup champion N.Y. Islanders. The Oilers replaced their earlier knit uniforms and began wearing this mesh set during the second half of the 1980-81 season and on into the playoffs. Sandow SK is heat-screened onto the right rear hem and game wear includes a slashing black mark on the left front and more black marks on the right sleeve.
Unger played eight playoff games for Edmonton after he appeared in 13 regular season games after he was acquired from the L.A. Kings in a trade for a draft pick on March 10, 1981.
More game wear includes sweat stains on the sleeve cuffs, a bit of red paint transfer and board burns on the left sleeve, blue paint transfer on the upper right sleeve, black marks high on the back of the left arm to the left of the sleeve seam, light black marks on the front tail, and reddish-brown stains on the rear tail, which also has a diagonal black slashing mark on the right through the hip seam.
