Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Offering something that an unopened wax box cannot – the chance to see an actual pack and wrapper – is this delectable duo of Topps packs from the 1971-72 season. Smaller in size than its O-Pee-Chee counterpart, the Topps set featured 132 cards, led in importance and value by the coveted rookie card of Ken Dryden – what’s this, a goalie pictured wearing his mask(?!) was the reaction of kids back in the day. Gordie Howe’s last Topps card as a Red Wing and cards of the three Bobbys; Orr, Hull and Clarke are also possible pulls for those not able to resist the temptation. As mentioned on the wrapper, a hockey booklet is included in each pack. Slight wrinkling in the wax paper wrapper in the bottom right corner of one pack here and in the lower left corner of the other is to note. An LOA from Martin Sports Cards will accompany these inviting 45-year old treasures.
