Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Usually the kingpin in the sets which featured him over the years, Gordie Howe is available in all sorts of nifty shapes and sizes in this years-in-the-making bonanza. A diamond-cut otherwise NM 1956 Adventure Gum card leads chronologically, with other highlights including a York transfer (multiple light creases), a York “white back”, an El Producto disc and a small General Mills card cut from a cereal box, the latter three all in the VG neighborhood. Other less often seen collectibles are an aluminum coin with “Top Performers of the Past 25 Years” on the back and a 1971-72 European issue. Completing are three Shirriff coins, a Coca-Cola card and (French) bottle cap, a Dad’s Cookies card, a ’71-72 booklet and two never-affixed stamps; ’69-70 OPC/Topps and ’70-71 Colgate. Howe sweet it is!
To be aware of is the ’60-61 Shirriff coin with a (wrong) blue Maple Leafs back and chipped edge, with the perforated edges of the Coke card having been trimmed away.
