Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
A couple of San Diego Chargers jerseys on the agenda, one a game-issued and the other a game-worn, with both looking for a nice comfy home to live in. Quarterback Stan Humphries’ white game-issued Chargers jersey is a 1990s example, never worn but readied for him, with no nameplate but with the colorful and rubberized number “12” on the front, back and sleeves, and with the embroidered “NFL 75” patch sewn on the left breast. On the hem is a sewn-on patch with “Russell Athletics size 48”, with washing instructions. Humphries began his NFL career with the Washington Redskins where he spent two seasons, followed by six more in San Diego. Long snapper David Binn wore the blue San Diego Chargers gamer during the 1994 campaign, his first of what would become 17 seasons with the Southern California team and what would be the longest-serving tenure of any player with the club. The name and numbers on this gamer are rubberized, with the embroidered “NFL 75” patch sewn on the left breast. The patch sewn on the hem reads as “Starter, Designed and Tailored Exclusively for the San Diego Chargers”, with a “94” patch on one side and a “50 long” flap on the other. This gamer has about five team repairs on it, including a nice one on the front number, and shows yellow marks on the left shoulder, blue marks on the back number, and a touch of blue on the right sleeve number.
