Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Led by the likes of Angelo Mosca, Willie Bethea, Hal Patterson and Bernie Faloney, the 1963 Hamilton Tiger-Cats would make cat food out of the B.C. Lions at Empire Stadium in Vancouver, winning the big game 21-10 and thus hoisting the 51st Grey Cup. We have a gem of a memento from that big game, a sterling silver cup standing almost 6 1/2", enscribed on it as "Hamilton Tiger Cat Football Club, 1963 Grey Cup Champions". On the bottom of this fine piece is engraved "Birk's Sterling" along with the maker's hallmarks and "31/45", with the little beauty weighing in at about 140 grams. We can't say for sure but these little trophies were most likely given to each member of the team and staff.
