He was never knocked down in 93 pro fights, and he stood toe to toe against the likes of Muhammed Ali, Floyd Patterson, George Foreman and Joe Frazier. He's George Chuvalo, a Canadian heavyweight legend, and Classic Auctions is proud to offer a pair of the great fighter's boxing gloves, used when he went up against Miami heavyweight Levi Forte in 1968, TKOing the American in the 2nd round. These important Everlast gloves are in sensational condition, with an inscription handwritten in white on one as "George Chuvalo vs. Levi Forte, KO'd 2nd Round Sept. 3rd 1968 Miami Beach", while the other reads as "Trained by Max Kadin, Managed by Irving Ungerman." Comes with an LOA from Mr. Ungerman. Levi Forte also fought George Foreman in his career, was a sparring partner for Muhammed Ali, and has spent more than 45 years as a bellman at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami, thus earning the nickname of “The Battling Bellman”. After his tussle with Foreman, the heavyweight vowed to never fight Forte again. And as far as Chuvalo goes, his pro boxing record amounted to 73 wins (64 knockouts, 9 decisions), 18 losses (2 knockouts, 16 decisions), and 2 draws. [red] Addendum; the original laces on the gloves are still intact. The interior of the right glove has "Chuvalo Forte" handwritten from back in the day, the left glove has "Miami Chuvalo Forte Sep 3/68" also handwritten on its interior from back in the day.[/red]
