Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
It’s remarkable that a player who didn’t play his first game of organized hockey until he was 17 years old would some day wind up in the Hall of Fame, but such was the case with defenceman Pierre Pilote (inducted 1975), who spent 12 1/2 glorious years with the Chicago Blackhawks and ended things with 1 final season with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1968-69. We have a 1969 NHL Assignment Agreement between the Leafs and the AHL Buffalo Bisons, assigning Pilote to Buffalo for the fee of $15,000, although it appears he retired for good following his ’68-’69 Leafs stint. Signed in clear blue ink by HOFer Jim Gregory (inducted 2007) and Bisons GM Fred Hunt, along with 2 witnesses, this document remains in wonderful condition with no marks or tears. Also included are copies of Pilote’s late –‘60s Hawks contract and personal info required by the team.
