Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

Swedish defenceman Tomas Jonsson donned this Tre Kronor gamer when he was patrolling the blueline for his Swedish National squad in circa 1978, several years before he would head to North America to become an eight-year vet with the New York Islanders (plus a short stint in Edmonton). Jonsson's mesh Tre Kronor shows no name on the back and polar bear advertsing on the front, which tells us that this jersey was worn in tournaments such as Izvestia, while in World Championship play, his name would be on the back. Jonsson's gamer, with the laced neck and manufacturer's tag sewn in the collar, has the logo, numbers, and advertising heat-pressed on, and shows light but obvious wear with a small amount of marks on the front and back. A nice vintage Tre Kronor from a player who was part of the Islanders squad that captured Stanley Cups in '81-82 and '82-83.
