Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Hard-hitting and talented defenceman Ed Jovanovski, taken 1st overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers, would find himself skating on the other side of the continent when, after four years in the Sunshine State, he became involved in a seven-player deal that saw him suddenly suiting up for Vancouver Canucks and future HOFer Pavel Bure (inducted 2012), going the other way to become a Panther. We have Jovo’s game-worn Canucks jersey from the 2003-04 campaign, tagged in the collar as a size “58”, and which features marks scattered about the front, back, and on both sleeves, and which includes three team repairs on the right sleeve and another on the left sleeve, along with board burns, some stains inside and out, a few small unrepaired holes, and puckering of the team crest and back numbers. Just a great example of how hard Jovo played the game. Sewn on the inside hem is a MeiGray registry patch with numbers that match those on the enclosed LOA signed by representatives of the NHL and MeiGray Group. Jovanoski would return to where it all began when he once again joined the Florida Panthers at the beginning of the 2011 season.
