Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
In 2005 the NHL and NHLPA joined forces and undertook a game-worn jersey money-raising auction to support those affected by Hurricane Katrina, with all auction jerseys worn during the first period of each team’s home opener, and all authenticated by a one-of-a-kind “Katrina Relief Fund” patch sewn on the breast of each jersey. Offered is one of these special jerseys, with this Edmonton Oilers gamer worn by Steve Staios on Oct. 5, 2005 when the Oilers took on the Colorado Avalanche. Tagged in the collar as a size 58, this gamer has the alternate “rigger” shoulder patch sewn on each shoulder, with game wear light with a few marks on the team’s “Oil Drop” crest and near the hem. Jersey comes with a Meigray registry code patch sewn on the inside hem, and with an LOA from the NHL/NHLPA.
