Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

Rookie-era Raymond Bourque 1981 gamer is a Sher-Wood P.M.P. 5073 model stick that the HOF defenseman used either late in the 1980-81 season, or possibly during the 1981 Canada Cup or the outset of the following season, as evidenced by the “20 Mars 1981” factory date stamp low on the back of the shaft. Bourque 7” factory stamp high on the shaft is partically covered by Ray’s nicely-worn white tape job, which remains in place wrapped over his custom-shaved knob with a loose strand towards the top. Bourque’s original black tape job on the blade has worn through most of the rough bottom edge. There are cracks just above the heel and low on the bottom end of the shaft. A crack in the middle of the shaft is missing a 15”-long segment of the top edge of the front just above the distinctive white “Sher-Wood” reinforcement panel on this model. Good game wear in the form of puck gouges on the tape job on the blade and marks on the shaft. A nice find for a HOF/Bruins display.
