The stars and stripes forever! Classic Washington Capitals red road gamer was worn during the 1987-88 season by Swedish forward Peter Sundstrom. Size 52 is handwritten in faint ballpoint on the Maska flag tag in the back of the neck. Solid wear shows in four team repairs, board burns on the sleeves, interior pilling around the neck area and upper front, and black marks on the front tail, both sleeves and on the back, including on the bottom of the "1" in the sewn-on #12 in white and blue double twill. Sundstrom had eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 76 games in his first of two seasons with the Capitals in 1987-88. He had 61 goals and 83 assists for 144 points in 338 regular season games over six NHL seasons with the New York Rangers, Washington and New Jersey, where he was a teammate of his twin brother, Patrik, with the Devils in 1989-80.
Patrik Sundstrom had 219 goals and 369 assists for 588 points in 679 regular season games over a 10-year NHL career that began with Vancouver in 1982-83 and ended with the New Jersey in 1991-92. He set the record for the most points in a Stanley Cup playoff game with eight on Apr. 22, 1988, a mark that was matched the following year by Mario Lemieux. Playing against his twin brother’s team, Patrik scored three goals and five assists in the Devils’ 10-4 win against Washington in Game 3 of the Patrick Division final.
