Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Classic Hartford Whalers game-worn jersey with the rare "Ten Years of Hockey" patch sewn on the left shoulder, worn by forward Michel Galarneau in 1981-82 when he suited up for 10 games that season. With evidence of a former name on the back from remnants of thread on the inside, this jersey was also worn at some point by either or both of Rob McClanahan (17 games) and Glenn Merkosky (7 games), both of whom wore #15 in '81-82. The collar has a Sandow and washing instruction tag and jersey has a double garther-style fight strap. This Whalers gamer shows lighter wear, with marks on the back number and paint transfer on the back hem, while the right sleeve shows marks, board burns and paint transfer, and the left sleeve some staining and a touch of paint transfer. A rare gem from an NHL team in existence from 1979 to 1997.
