Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
This mid-1970s Vancouver Canucks gamer was worn by defenseman Dennis Kearns before it was recycled for training camp use. Kearns spent his entire 10-year NHL career with Vancouver. From 1972-73, when the Canucks debuted this style, until the last season they wore it in 1977-78, Kearns was the only player to wear number "6", the removed number that clearly shows in the outline inside the back of the jersey. That number and the ones on the sleeves were removed and the number 36 that now shows was screened on the back and both sleeves when the jersey was recycled for training camp use. Rawlings size 48 tagging remains in the back of the neck. There is a black mark to the right of the "Stick-in-rink" crest on the front, which has light reddish-brown stains on the bottom right. There is a small hole on the bottom left front and another hole on the right reart tail at the side seam. Some more light stains and marks on the front tail which has a board burn with yellow paint transfer.
We are unable to confirm who wore the jersey during training camp because it may have been used in multiple years.
